Get a free business account

Pins bring clicks for $0: twelve tools, starting with the simplest. Here's the first tool. Number twelve: free business tools show views, saves and clicks for Pins you make. It's meant for creators too, not just companies.

You don't need your own website to start publishing. Everything can be made right in the Pinterest app. Audience insights come alongside the analytics. It also opens the Business Hub, where you review your Pins' results.

Detailed analytics are one of its special tools. On a phone, a personal account converts into a business account. Your Pins and followers stay the same, and you can switch back anytime. By our count, there are two ways in, and both cost $0.

The link is in the description. A brand-new business account starts on a computer, for now. Up next, your profile.

Set up your profile

Number eleven: your profile shows your business name and a short bio. The bio holds up to 500 characters. A link to your site shows on your profile for visitors. Your username takes three to thirty characters, with letters, numbers or underscores.

A wide cover image works best, at least 800 by 450 pixels. Claiming your website puts your profile picture next to Pins saved from it. It also shows how often your content gets shared. To claim a site, you must own it and be able to edit its code.

Changes can take up to seventy-two hours to show. By our count, 800 by 450 is exactly sixteen by nine. If step-by-step guides like this help you, subscribe. Every official page is linked below.

Coming up, making a Pin.

Make a Pin on your phone

Number ten: in the app, the add icon, then Pin, starts a new Pin. You pick an image from your phone, and the app may ask permission. Picking several makes one Pin each, or one stitched video. Several images can also make a step-by-step guide.

Next comes a title, and a link if you have one. A board can be picked from the list, or made on the spot. Toggles mark content made fully or partly with AI. Next, then Create, and the Pin is live.

After that, its title and board can change, but not the image itself. Drafts are kept for thirty days, then they're gone. By our count, thirty days is four weeks and two days. Then, picking the right size.

Pick the right size

Number nine: Pins look best tall, because most people use Pinterest on a phone. For images, a two by three shape is the recommendation. That's 1,000 by 1,500 pixels. Larger shapes may get cut off in people's feeds.

For full-screen video, nine by sixteen, or ten eighty by nineteen twenty pixels. Videos run from four seconds up to five minutes. The design tools offer five shapes: nine by sixteen, two by three, three by four, four by five and square. Blurry or stretched images make an idea hard to see.

By our count, 1,000 by 1,500 makes the height one and a half times the width. Up next, a video Pin.

Make a video Pin

Number eight: a video Pin plays by itself in the home feed, with a cover image. It can hold one video, or several videos and images, with text and stickers. In the app, you pick a video after the add icon and Pin. The in-app camera records several clips, with speeds from point three to three times.

A strong thumbnail helps, and Edit cover picks it. Music without permission gets the Pin muted, so only sound you have the right to use. Video Pins are only open to business accounts in some places for now, so an image Pin is the backup. By our count, five minutes is 300 seconds, seventy-five times the four-second minimum.

Coming up, what people search for.

Find what people search

Number seven: Pinterest Trends shows what people search and save, over up to two years. It shows popular keywords, whether a trend is seasonal, and its weekly, monthly and yearly change. Up to four keywords can be compared on one graph. The graph is a scale from zero to 100, not a count of searches.

It opens in a browser on a computer or a phone, not in the app. Business accounts also see their own audience's top trends from the past ninety days. That view is updated daily. In the app, suggested topics appear when you tap the search bar.

By our count, two years of history is twenty-four months of trends. Then, writing what people search.

Write titles and keywords

Number six: a Pin title can run up to 100 characters. The first forty are the ones most likely to show. By our count, that's 40% of the space doing most of the work. A description holds up to 800 characters.

It doesn't show in the home feed or search feed. But the algorithm uses it to decide where your Pin is relevant. Hashtags can go in the description too. Relevant keywords belong in the title, the description, board titles and descriptions, and your site's address.

Pinterest Trends, from the last step, is one place to find those words. The words, images and keywords on the Pin should match the page it links to. Up to ten related topics can be tagged, so similar searches find the Pin. After a search, suggested terms called guides appear near the search bar.

Guides add Pinterest's most popular search terms to your search. Say Maya sells handmade candles and titles her Pin with the words people search. By our count, her eight-hundred-character description is eight times the room of her title. Up next, your link.

Add your link

Number five: a link on your Pin gives people a clear next step. Many creators send people to their blog, their site, or a site they work with. The link should go straight to the source page. Some redirects and link shorteners aren't allowed.

Pinterest blocks links that redirect, mislead or spam. A page clearly related to the Pin is the one to link. Your site should load in under four seconds. Pinterest adds tracking tags to organic Pin links by itself, so your site can see the visits.

The tags help you see which Pins send people to your site. By our count, that's two tags: the source and the medium. A wrong or blocked link on a Pin you made can be edited. The path is the Pin, the ellipsis icon, Edit Pin, the website field and Done.

By our count, that fix takes five taps. Being open about commercial content and links is part of the rules. Commercial content needs a clear label, like hashtag ad or the paid partnership label. That label can't be added after publishing, so it goes on at the start.

Then, boards.

Organize with boards

Number four: boards are collections for your Pins, made anytime or as you save one. The plus icon, then Board, a name and Create make one. Pinterest may suggest a name, which can be edited first. Inviting collaborators is an option while making a board.

Clear, descriptive names help with search, like the example Easy No-bake Dinners. By our count, that example name is twenty characters long. A board's name is what shows under it on your profile. A board's description says a little about it.

Boards help people browse your profile and explore your ideas. Sections organize Pins inside a board, with suggested names to pick from. Public boards show on your profile and in search. Private boards are visible only to you and the collaborators you invite.

Group boards let invited people add and organize Pins together. By our count, that's three kinds of boards. A section is added from the plus icon, then Section, inside the board. There's no limit on how many Pins you create or how many people follow you.

Boards do have a limit, and archiving one doesn't free a spot; deleting does. Coming up, scheduling Pins ahead.

Schedule Pins ahead

Number three: Pins can be scheduled to publish later, up to thirty days ahead. One goes in at a time, with up to ten waiting. Say Maya schedules ten candle Pins for the month ahead. By our count, ten Pins over thirty days is one every three days.

The path is the plus icon, Pin, your media, then the schedule option. You choose the date and time, tap Done, then Schedule, and confirm. Scheduled Pins sit on your profile, above the published ones. They can take a few minutes to appear.

Until then, the date, title, board, description and link can still change. The image or video can't. By our count, that's five details you can still edit. Deleting one is the ellipsis icon, then Delete.

New original Pins at least once a week keep a steady stream going. Scheduling standard Pins is a business account feature. Then, the rules that keep an account in good shape.

Keep inside the rules

Number two: original Pins that link where people expect stay within the rules. Websites should have original content that adds unique value. People should be able to guess where your link takes them; Pinterest calls it no surprises. Unsafe or untrustworthy websites aren't allowed as links either.

Repetitive or misleading content made to earn money isn't allowed. Neither are bought engagement, stuffed keywords or fake traffic. Get-rich-quick schemes are out too. Saving the same Pins over and over can be flagged as spam.

Affiliate links are allowed in moderation, not in large volumes. Content that promotes goods or services counts as commercial content. Product Pins must show a specific item for sale, not a service. Respecting others' rights, like their images and privacy, is part of it.

Breaking these rules can cost the ability to create Pins, or a temporary block. A decision you think is wrong can be appealed within six months. By our count, six months is half a year to appeal. The community rules get an update on November twelfth, twenty twenty-six.

Last, seeing what brings clicks.

See what brings clicks

Number one: Pinterest Analytics shows which Pins bring clicks to your page. It shows which published content resonates most. On a phone, it's your profile picture, the chart icon, then Analytics. The overview shows the last thirty days, with top boards and top Pins.

Impressions count how often your Pins were on screen. Saves count how often people saved your Pin to a board. Pin clicks count opens of your Pin in closeup. Outbound clicks count people leaving Pinterest for your link.

They're counted from the day the link is added. Top Pins can be sorted by outbound clicks, Pin clicks, saves or engagements. Each Pin's own stats always show those four core numbers. A single Pin's stats sit under Created, then Pin Stats below the Pin.

Analytics needs a business account. Custom ranges reach back a year and a half. The last forty-eight hours show live estimates, which can still go down. Say Maya checks which candle Pin sends the most visits to her shop page.

By our count, a year and a half of data is eighteen months of clicks to compare. Now that your Pins can bring clicks, what else can your phone earn? Click the video on screen now.
