Washing pet bowls and beds for neighbors

Pet chores that pay: five real gigs right next door, simplest first. Number five: washing pet bowls, $17 an hour on one wage table. Soap and warm water do the work, and your neighbor pays you directly. You scrub each bowl with a sponge or brush, rinse, and towel it dry.

Soft beds, blankets and plush toys go in the washing machine. Dog and cat bowls you wash by hand can go in the kitchen sink. Other pet things get a tub and sponge kept just for them. One sample schedule washes beds every week and toys every month.

By our count, that schedule makes this a job that comes back every week. A poster on a local board can bring your first client. Next, a daily litter cleanup cats count on.

Cat litter box cleaning

Number four: a neighbor's cat litter box, at about the same rate on another wage table. Soiled litter should come out at least once a day. You wear disposable gloves, then wash your hands with soap right after. You use the neighbor's scoop, litter and bags.

The tray belongs away from where the cat eats. Letting your neighbor choose how to pay makes on-time payment more likely. If you're pregnant, it's best to let someone else do this one. Say Leo spends two hours on two neighbors' litter boxes.

By our count, two hours at that table's $17 and eight cents is $34 and sixteen cents. If practical guides like this help you, subscribe. Every official page is linked below. Next, a fish tank you clean with plain water.

Fish tank water change and glass

Number three: a home fish tank, $17 and seventy-one cents an hour on a cleaning wage table. You swap part of the water and wipe the glass. Fresh water only, with no chemicals or cleaning sprays near the tank. Water from the tap loses its chlorine after standing for two to seven days.

One welfare page changes about a quarter of the water each week. Another page changes about a third at least once a month, so ask your neighbor. You need a clean bucket, a jug and a soft cloth from home. Before you name a price, find out what others nearby charge.

Say Ana changes part of the water in two tanks and wipes their glass in two hours. By our count, two hours at that table's $17 and seventy-one cents is $35 and forty-two cents. You wear gloves, and empty tank water in a bathtub or outside, not the kitchen sink. Where that water goes can depend on local rules, so check yours.

Next, small-animal cages, with a higher figure on the wage tables.

Small-animal cage cleaning

Number two: small-animal cages, $18 and thirty-four cents an hour on one wage table. You swap wet or dirty bedding and clean the food and water containers. You use the bedding the neighbor already has, like wood shavings or shredded paper. A guinea pig's hutch gets cleaned at least every second day.

How often depends on the animal, so ask your neighbor. Returning a little used but unsoiled bedding helps a rabbit feel at home. Say Noor cleans a rabbit cage and a guinea pig hutch in two hours. By our count, two hours at $18 and thirty-four cents is $36 and sixty-eight cents.

You clean the cage outside or in a well-aired room, never where food is made. You wash your hands with soap and running water afterward. And number one has the same figure, for a bird's cage.

Bird cage cleaning

Number one: a bird's cage, the same $18 and thirty-four cents an hour on a second wage table. Its water is refreshed every day, and the dishes stay off the cage floor. Paper on the cage floor lifts out for cleaning. Once a week, the cage and perches come apart for a full wash.

Household cleaning sprays stay away, since birds are sensitive to fumes. You use only the bird-safe cleaner your neighbor already has. You clean outdoors or in a separate room from the bird. Say Sam gives one big cage its weekly full wash, an hour each time.

By our count, four weekly washes at that table's figure come to $73 and thirty-six cents. You wear gloves for droppings and wash the cage away from the kitchen sink. Side income may need declaring where you live, so keep a simple record. Some places also ask for a business license, so check yours.

Five hands-on pet cleaning jobs you can do at a neighbor's home, with no app in between: pet bowls and beds, a cat's litter box, a home fish tank, small-animal cages and a bird's cage. For each one: what the job looks like, the household tools it takes, how official health and animal-welfare pages say to do it safely, how to find a first client and agree on payment, and the figure an official wage table gives for the closest official job, for scale only. From live official pages read on November 2, 2026, with counts of our own. Leo, Ana, Noor and Sam are invented examples. Information only; results vary. Nothing here promises income. This video is not financial advice, and the mascot is a fictional character.
