1. LRNKEY, where you can teach any skill or knowledge you have
Teach what you know: payday in forty-eight hours on the fastest site here. Number ten: LRNKEY, where you can teach any skill or knowledge you have. You set your own price and teach live one-on-one video lessons. Learners book sixty-minute lessons with you in its secure video classroom.
Your tutor profile is free, and you can start in under thirty minutes. LRNKEY keeps 10% of each lesson's price, and you keep the rest. Its own example: a ten-dollar hour pays you nine. The learner confirms each lesson when it ends.
By our count, four of those ten-dollar hours leave you $36. There's no payout day: the money reaches your LRNKEY account after each confirmed lesson. Next, a site that takes no commission on your lessons at all.
2. FindTutors, where you post a free ad for any subject
Number nine: FindTutors, where you post a free ad for any subject. It charges no commission, so you keep a hundred percent of your earnings. You set your lesson price, and students message you to book. You can teach in its built-in virtual classroom.
There's no payment day: students pay you directly, by a method you both agree. Say Maya charges thirty pounds an hour for two hours of math. By our count, that comes to sixty pounds, and all of it stays hers. If you want clear pay breakdowns without fluff, subscribe so the next guide reaches you.
Every step and rule in this video comes straight from each platform's official pages linked below. No formal qualifications are needed. The site works in one country for now. Next, a site that credits you after every lesson.
3. W Tutors, where you set your own rate and keep eighty-five percent
Number eight: W Tutors, where you set your own rate and keep 85%. You set a schedule, and learners book lessons in its online classroom. You bring the learning material, matched to what each learner needs. Its own example: a sixty-dollar lesson pays the tutor $51.
By our count, four of those lessons leave you $204. You're credited after each lesson and can withdraw once a week, from $25, to your bank. Tutors are sole proprietors or freelancers, not employees of the site. Learners can't pay you directly.
It vets each application and asks for a top grade in each subject you teach. Next, the fastest payday on the list.
4. TheTutorLink, where you keep ninety-five percent of every lesson
Number seven: TheTutorLink, where you keep 95% of every lesson. You decide your hourly rate, and a flat 5% comes out of your payout. You teach from home by video, with a shared whiteboard and short homework. Its own breakdown: a thirty-pound lesson pays the tutor twenty-eight fifty.
By our count, four of those lessons leave you 114 pounds. Pay arrives within forty-eight hours of each completed lesson, by bank transfer. You can tutor on other platforms too, with no exclusivity. No teaching qualification is needed, and trial lessons are free, thirty-minute sessions.
It reviews your profile and a trial before you go live, in one country for now. Next, a site where the commission drops the more you work.
5. Tutor House, where you're free to set your own hourly rate
Number six: Tutor House, where you're free to set your own hourly rate. Its commission runs from fifteen to 25% of each session fee. The more you work, the lower it goes, its page says. You get direct requests from customers, or apply to jobs posted daily.
Say Maya teaches a forty-pound hour at the lowest commission. By our count, after 15% and a 2% payment charge, thirty-three twenty is hers. Clients pay before lessons happen. You're paid within five working days, its join page says.
You must be at least eighteen, with a bank account in one country. Its team reviews each profile before it goes live. Next, a site built for university student-tutors.
6. Edumentors, where you set your own price for one-to-one sessions
Number five: Edumentors, where you set your own price for one-to-one sessions. Its commission averages 22.5%, based on how many sessions parents book. It suggests starting at twenty-five pounds and raising it after three or four months. Parents pay twenty-four hours in advance, so your earnings are assured, its page says.
You're paid in full, even for discounted sessions. If you're new, the platform marks you as just starting and helps you grow. Every session is booked and paid through its website. You accept lesson requests and teach fifty-minute sessions online or in person.
Say Maya sets twenty-five pounds a session and teaches four sessions. By our count, that comes to a hundred pounds before the commission. If it's taken from your fee, that leaves seventy-seven fifty, by our count. Payments go out twice a month, on the third and eighteenth, and can take up to five business days to arrive.
A session counts as completed forty-eight hours after it ends, unless a concern is raised. Only completed sessions are paid, straight to your linked bank account. Its pages differ on whether the commission is added on top or taken from your fee. Tutoring experience helps, but the page says it isn't required.
You register, pass a fifteen-minute online interview, and can start tutoring right away. It's for university student-tutors in one country, with a bank account there. Next, a site that publishes exactly what you take home.
7. MyTutor, where private tutors set their own price per lesson
Number four: MyTutor, where private tutors set their own price per lesson. Its pay table shows what you take home at each price you set. At fifty pounds a lesson, you take home thirty, the table says. At twenty-six pounds, the table shows thirteen thirty-one taken home.
You teach online, and all you need is a laptop and wifi, it says. You can work as much or as little as you like. School tutors are paid on pay bands that rise with performance. On its top band, a one-to-one lesson pays eighteen fifty-six an hour.
Say Maya sets her private price at fifty pounds and teaches four lessons. By our count, she takes home a hundred twenty pounds. Payments are processed twice a month, based on when lessons are completed. First-half lessons are paid around the sixteenth to eighteenth, the rest around the second to fourth.
Then it usually takes three to five working days to reach your bank. It raises an invoice for you and deducts its charges before it pays you. You work as a self-employed tutor, its help page says. Its apply page says you don't need any qualifications to join.
Yet the same page asks for top grades and a university place in one country. Then comes a fifteen-minute video interview, and you need the right to work there. After the interview, it trains you and offers resources and a tutor community. Next, a site that shows what families pay by experience band.
8. StudyGuru, where you keep sixty-five percent of every lesson
Number three: StudyGuru, where you keep 65% of every lesson. Families pay twenty-four to seventy-four pounds an hour, depending on your experience band. So you keep from fifteen pounds sixty to forty-eight pounds ten an hour. You choose when you work, which students you accept, and how you teach.
Whiteboard, video, scheduling and payments sit in one platform. There are no signup fees and no minimum hours, and you can cancel anytime. It writes the lesson summary for you, so there's no report to write after each lesson. Say Maya is placed in the second band, at thirty pounds an hour.
Its table says she keeps nineteen fifty of each of those hours. By our count, four of those hours leave her seventy-eight pounds. It pays within a week of each session, straight to your bank. Payment is authorised twenty-four hours before each lesson, so a late cancellation is still paid.
You need to be a university student or recent graduate in one country. You also need at least a top grade in the subject you tutor. Then a short twenty-minute video call with its team. Every tutor completes an enhanced background check before teaching.
It pays for that check upfront, sixty-nine pounds eighty for now, and recovers it from your earnings. Until the check is repaid, you receive 50% of each lesson fee, then your usual share returns. Next, a site that pays a set rate per hour.
9. Cluey, where rates start at twenty-five dollars an hour for weekly online lessons
Number two: Cluey, where rates start at $25 an hour for weekly online lessons. They rise to $40 for qualified specialist teachers. Lessons run from home on its live, real-time collaborative platform. It finds your students and handles scheduling and billing for you.
That means no lesson planning or content sourcing on your part. Say Maya tutors four one-hour sessions a week at the starting rate. By our count, that's a hundred dollars a week. At the forty-dollar specialist rate, those four hours would be a hundred sixty, by our count.
You set learning goals and adapt each student's plan. You give feedback after each session and set practice questions in between. Sessions usually run in the late afternoon and evening on weekdays, or by day on weekends. It also pays the required statutory amounts on your behalf.
Training is paid, so you get comfortable with the platform first. You also get support, follow-up and feedback, its page says. Most of its tutors had never tutored online before. You're paid into your bank account every two weeks, once your tax details are on file.
You need ten hours of availability each week. University students and teachers can both apply. You need working rights and a bank account in one country, plus its curriculum. Its page also says contractors don't have to live there.
The interview checks your qualifications by video, plus a check for working with children. And number one: a fee that falls the longer you teach.
10. Spires, where the fee on each job falls from thirty-five to twenty percent as you teach
Number one: Spires, where the fee on each job falls from thirty-five to 20% as you teach. You bid on student jobs with your own price, and each job starts at a 35% fee. It drops 1% for every five hours you teach on that job. It focuses on academic subjects with an exam; math, computer science and the sciences are most in demand.
All the tutoring is online, and you need suitable equipment and computer skills. Its own example: a student hires you at fifty pounds an hour. For the first five hours, you earn thirty-two fifty an hour. From hours six to ten, that rises to thirty-three pounds.
By our count, once the fee reaches the 20% floor, that fifty-pound hour leaves you forty. Payments go out every Friday through its automated system. Bank transfers then take three to five working days to clear. The other payout option carries a 3% fee.
Its fee article says tutors pay no platform fees, yet its own table takes the fee from your hourly earnings. You're a self-employed freelancer, not an employee. Creating a profile takes about fifteen minutes. It asks for at least two years of formal, paid teaching or tutoring.
Volunteering and tutoring friends or family don't count. You pass an interview, then upload a background check for review. You need a bank account and proof of address in a country it supports. Zero tutoring experience?
The next video shows three steps to your first payday.

Ten online tutoring sites and how each one pays the tutor: a live one-to-one lesson marketplace open to any skill, a free tutor directory with no commission, a site that credits you after every lesson, a low-fee site that pays within 48 hours, a sliding commission, a student-tutor site with two paydays a month, a published take-home table, a site where tutors keep 65%, a set hourly rate and a fee that falls the longer you teach. For each one: how the rate is set, what the site keeps, when tutors are paid and who can join, from each site's own pages read on November 1, 2026, with one count of our own per site. Most of these sites work in one country for now, as their pages say. Example prices are the pages' own or invented for Maya, who is an invented example. Information only; results vary.
